Summer Session at Taneytown Dance Center

As the spring season winds down, many of us look forward to a break from our usual schedule and some time off for the summer.

However, for dancers at TDC the summer session is the ideal time to build upon the skills learned throughout the year and push forward through perfecting style and form to reach progressing levels.

2018 summer session: July 9 – August 16

Throughout the summer we are excited to offer a wide range of special dance camps, workshops, and intensives for our tiniest dancers up through our advanced dancers!

**Enrollment of 4 or more dancers is required for each class, workshop, camp, or intensive during our summer session to allow the class to run. Dancers enrolling in our summer session are not required to be previously enrolled at TDC.**

Baby Doll Camp: July 16-18, 9:00-10:30am ($95)

A Taneytown Dance Center favorite! Baby Doll Dance Camp is an age-appropriate, mini-camp where our tiny dancers listen to a featured doll story that sets the theme for the day. We encourage our dancers to bring along their favorite baby doll to share in the fun.

Baby Doll Camp days include a read-aloud story, craft time, and of course lots of DANCING!   The little dancers love sharing their day with their favorite baby doll.

Recommended for dancers ages 3-5.

Princess Camp: July 23-27, 9:00-11:30am ($180)

Every little girl dreams of being a Princess for the day, at TDC we will make that dream come true for the week! Princess Dancers will participate in story time with the featured Princess of the day, craft time, snack time, and lots of DANCING!

As the week in our studio (aptly renamed the “Grand Ballroom” for the week) comes to an end, our Princess Dancers are invited to come to camp dressed as their favorite princess as they prepare to end the day with a short performance for the parents who have joined us. (For safety regarding food allergies and sensitivities, we ask that each dancer bring their own small snack. **Please, NO peanut products.**)

Recommended for dancers ages 5-7.

Performance / Choreography Workshop: July 30 – August 4 ($180)

  • 9:00-12:00 ages 9-12

  • 12:00-3:00pm ages 13+

Dancers interested in learning more about how to successfully plan and choreograph a performance will be excited to enroll in this week-long workshop. Members of the Performance/Choreography Workshop will work together from start to finish on a piece they will perform at the end of the week. Students will plan all aspects of the piece, including music, costuming, and choreography.

This workshop is designed to help dancers see all aspects required of a mature dancer’s skills and build their confidence in contributing to the dance community here at TDC and beyond.

Recommended for dancers with prior dance experience.

Dance Intensive Week: August 6-11

  • 9:00am-12:00pm Intermediate | ages 9-12 ($160)

  • 1:00-4:00pm Advanced | 13+ ($180)

Our Dance Intensive Week is designed for the intermediate through advanced dance student that seeks to keep their current skills intact through the summer, and/or desires more intense training to help overcome any barriers keeping them from progressing to new levels.

Genres covered during the week are ballet, modern, tap, hip hop, and jazz. Students will need appropriate shoes and should plan to bring a snack and plenty of water to remain hydrated through training. **Please, NO peanut products.**

Exploring Movement Workshop:

  • Ages 14+ | 1:00-4:00pm August 13-18 ($160)

Students who are ready to try new genres but are unsure of which style to choose will find the Exploring Movement Workshop to be the perfect opportunity to try multiple genres within one intense week of training and exploration. This is the perfect time to try each genre before finalizing your fall enrollment and placement.

Each day will present an opportunity to learn a different genre, allowing dancers to sample through our offerings and find the styles that spark their passions.

Recommended for all dancers interested in trying new genres.
